H4CKN1T is a Capture the Flag (CTF) type information security competition. It is designed to serve as an educational exercise to give participants experience in securing a machine, as well as conducting and reacting to the sort of attacks found in the real world. Reverse-engineering, network sniffing, programming, and cryptanalysis are some of the required skills. The main purpose of this event is to expose participants to the world of computer security and the growing need of it. In this 12 hour long contest, focus is on jeopardy-style competition rather than attack-defense style. Jeopardy-style involve multiple categories of problems, each of which contains a variety of questions of different point values and difficulties. Teams attempt to earn the most points in the competition's time frame, but do not directly attack each other.
